Floating Holidays

This policy is meant to provide flexibility to 25Friday employees with regards to their local municipal holiday and to portuguese holidays that might occur while on a trip to the client.

Municipal Holidays

Even though every 25Friday coworker is geographically assigned to a specific office (e.g. Aveiro or Porto) the actual geographical distribution of coworkers varies greatly and there’s often a mismatch between the offices’ municipal holidays and the municipal holiday of the employees’ area of residence. This mismatch leads to employees having to take a municipal holiday on days that sometimes are not ideal, either for the teams or themselves. This policy provides flexibility regarding municipal holidays by allowing employees to pick one day of the year to enjoy their municipal holiday, with the following constraints:

  • The holiday must be registered as such on TimeLoom (Public Holiday – Municipal);
  • The holiday must be taken on every civil year, i.e. there’s no carry-over for following years;
  • There needs to be team alignment / communication regarding this holiday, similar to what is done for regular holidays and leave days.

Note that this is not an extra holiday, this policy merely provides everyone with the possibility of picking the day of the municipal holiday and can also be used on situations where the holiday would fall on a weekend.

FAQs:

  • In case I take the floating holiday in my anniversary, will I have to work in the municipal holiday? Yes.
  • How can I apply the floating holidays? The option is available on HiBob from 2023 onwards and needs to be registered as such on TimeLoom.
  • If the city holiday happens to be on the weekend, will I have access to the floating holiday? Yes.

Holidays during client trips

On the event that a Portuguese holiday occurs during a working day while on a client trip, you are entitled to schedule the holiday for any other day at your convenience, provided:

  • You worked on that day;
  • The holiday must be registered as such on TimeLoom (Public Holiday) on the day that you actually take it, specifying the reason for the change (client trip);
  • The holiday must be taken on the same civil year, i.e. there’s no carry-over for following years;
  • There needs to be team alignment / communication regarding this holiday, similar to what is done for regular holidays and leave days.

How to proceed?

Since the employee does not have permission to change the BackOffice rules, the following steps should be taken:

  • Reach out to the Accounting Department (accounting-team@25friday.com) or you can reach out directly to Sara Aleixo.
  • Inform them of the day you intend to take as a substitute for the public holiday.

Non-Bank Holiday Dates:

Christmas Eve (December 24), New Year’s Eve (December 31), and Carnival (Tuesday of Carnival) are not recognised as official bank holidays under the company’s holiday policy.
